"You don’t need to be “in shape” to start CrossFit. In fact it’s pretty amazing coming in a little out of shape because then you can look back and see all the amazing progress you’ve made!"
Why do you CrossFit?
Physically I am stronger, leaner, have way more endurance and energy. Emotionally it has shown me that staying active and achieving goals is so much about your mental state and how you approach life.
When did you start?
I have been CrossFiting for a little over 5 years. For me CrossFit 701 has become a family and it’s amazing the changes you can make with some amazing people supporting you along the way.
Over the last 5 years I have lost over 50 pounds, gained a ton of muscle, found that I have so much more energy, and found that CrossFit helped me to maintain healthy habits throughout all of the ups and downs of life. The biggest change I’ve noticed is that I’m so much happier when I’m CrossFitting.
"My advice for people looking at starting CrossFit would be to take things at your own pace when first starting out. A workout may be programmed at 90 lbs, but if you're only able to do 40 lbs, that is fine. Modifications are available for almost every workout and they can be reworked for your skill level."
Why did you start?
I started CrossFit initially to lose weight and get back into shape and increase my strength. What keeps me going though is definitely the atmosphere. Everyone is inviting and the coaches are always there to help.
When did you start?
I have been doing CrossFit for about 6 months now. I started coming 2 times a week for the first month, but I quickly moved that number to 5 or 6 times a week. It's one of my favorite places to be.
The health benefits were actually some of the most shocking changes. I started crossfit at 305 lbs and am down to 255. My resting heart rate has dropped from the high 80s to the low 60s. My blood pressure has dropped from the 150s to 120s.
